Why teams switch from Testmo

Testmo earns real praise for its automation support. The reasons teams leave are almost always its pricing structure and plan gates.

Your 11th user quadruples the bill

Testmo’s Team plan is hard-capped at 10 users. The moment you hire one more tester, you jump to Business at $399/month for a 25-user block — and keep scaling in 25-user increments whether you fill them or not. QA Sphere is $12 per user, so user 11 costs $12, not $300.

Read-only users still cost full price

Testmo ships a read-only role, but every activated user counts toward the subscription regardless of role — a manager who only checks dashboards is a full seat. QA Sphere gives you unlimited free read-only seats, so the whole company can follow quality status at no cost.

SSO and 2FA are locked behind the $599 Enterprise plan

Google/SAML single sign-on, two-factor authentication and enforcement, and the audit log all require Testmo Enterprise at $599/month. QA Sphere includes Google sign-in and 2FA on every plan, including the free tier.

AI arrived in 2026 — still beta, still text-only

Testmo’s AI test case generation launched in February 2026, remains labeled Beta, and only works from typed requirements; updating cases with AI and the official MCP server are “Coming Soon” or in private beta. QA Sphere ships AI that is generally available: draft cases, bulk-generate from requirements, convert screenshots into test cases, and report issues with AI assistance — plus an official MCP server.

No parameterized tests for manual cases

Testmo’s case steps are static text fields — there are no variables, shared parameters, or datasets to run one case against many inputs. QA Sphere supports variables in test cases, so data-driven manual testing doesn’t mean copy-pasting near-identical cases.

Teams have migrated libraries of 100,000+ test cases — onboarding support is included at every step.

What comes over

  • Test cases with steps and expected results
  • Folder hierarchy, tags, and priorities
  • Custom fields, mapped together with our team
  • CSV, Excel, JSON, and API exports — we handle them all

Migrating over 100,000 test cases sounded daunting, but with QA Sphere, it was surprisingly smooth. … Since switching, we’ve seen a real impact: costs are down, team efficiency is up, and test coverage velocity has improved by 10–12%.

ScanTrust QA team streamlines test library management with QA Sphere collaborative features

QA Sphere helped us bring structure to our test library and streamline daily QA routines. What stood out was how receptive the team was - some of our feature suggestions are already live and saving us hours of manual work. It's rare to see that kind of collaboration translate so quickly into real improvements.

Customsrates CTO endorses QA Sphere software testing tool for its clean UI and quality

I like clean, minimalistic UI, even being Software Engineer I can see the state of the software clean. Most tools I've user has just unpleasant 90s interface so I avoid them – thus gap between QA and Dev departments. This is high quality product for quality assurance – I wish more such tools for the QA and Dev Engineers!

Frequently asked questions

Export your projects from Testmo as CSV, Excel, or JSON and import them with our CSV tooling, or book a migration call and our team will map the structure with you and perform a validated import. Note that Testmo data exports do not include attachments — we help you plan for those separately during the call.

It depends on team size, but the pricing model is very different. Testmo charges flat tiers: $99/month up to 10 users, then $399/month for a 25-user block on Business. QA Sphere is $12 per user per month — a team of 11 pays $132, not $399 — and read-only stakeholders are free instead of counting as paid seats.

Yes. QA Sphere has a free tier for up to 3 users plus unlimited free read-only seats, and a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. Testmo has no free tier and offers a 21-day trial.

Testmo added AI test case generation in early 2026; it is still in beta and generates from typed requirements only, 10–60 cases per request. QA Sphere’s AI is generally available on every plan: draft individual cases, bulk-generate from requirements, convert screenshots into test cases, and get AI-assisted issue reporting — plus an official MCP server.

Automation is one of Testmo’s strengths, and QA Sphere covers the same core workflow: submit automated results from any CI tool via the REST API and CLI, with a documented 300 requests/minute limit on every plan. Testmo does not publish its API rate limits, and triggering CI jobs from the tool requires its Enterprise plan.

Not with QA Sphere — Google sign-in and two-factor authentication are included on all plans. In Testmo, SSO, 2FA, and the audit log require the Enterprise plan at $599/month.

Yes — QA Sphere test cases support variables, so you can run one case against multiple data sets. Testmo has no native parameterization for manual cases; its step fields are static text.
