Xray Pricing in 2026: What Xray for Jira Really Costs Your Team
Xray is one of the most popular test management apps for Jira. Its price is not set by how many people test, though. It is set by how many people use your Jira site. This guide explains how Xray pricing works, what each edition costs, what happens to Data Center, and how the numbers compare with a tool that charges per tester. All prices are USD list prices from the Atlassian Marketplace, as of October 2026.
The Quick Answer
- Xray is licensed for every user on your Jira site, not only for the people who write or run tests.
- Xray Standard costs a flat $10/month (or $100/year) for sites with up to 10 Jira users. Above 10 users, every Jira user is billed, starting at $7.28 per user per month for the first 100 users, with lower rates for larger tiers.
- A 100-user Jira site pays $728/month or $7,280/year for Xray Standard. A 200-user site pays $10,980/year.
- Xray Enterprise is a separate app. It starts at $27.50/month for up to 10 users and costs $13.20 per user per month in the 100-user tier.
- Every edition has a 30-day free trial.
How Xray Pricing Works: Editions and Apps
Xray is sold through the Atlassian Marketplace as two separate listings:
- Xray Test Management for Jira, which has two editions since October 2025:
- Standard, the default edition when you install the app.
- Advanced, which adds AI test script generation, more attachment storage (250 GB instead of 100 GB), a higher API limit (100 requests per minute instead of 60), a usage monitor and a larger shared steps library.
- Xray Enterprise, a separate app without editions. It adds Test Case Designer, test case versioning with approvals, dynamic test plans, a remote jobs trigger, the highest storage, API and AI capacity, and faster support response times.
Some points to know before you budget:
- Advanced is an upgrade edition. Its price is not in the public price list. It appears in the Marketplace pricing tab once you enter your team size.
- Moving from Xray to Xray Enterprise needs a new license, arranged through Xray's sales team. It is not a simple edition switch.
- AI features use metered AI credits, so check the credit allowance of your edition as well as the license price.
- Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period.
You Pay for Every Jira User, Not Every Tester
This is the part of Xray pricing that surprises most teams. Xray does not choose its own billing unit. Atlassian bills all Jira Cloud apps by the size of the Jira site. In Atlassian's words, "Marketplace apps for Jira are priced based on the maximum number of users of Jira apps on your site."
The Marketplace price list shows a flat $10/month for up to 10 users. Above 10 users, every user is billed at the per-user rate, starting with the first. The app's billing cycle must also match the Jira billing cycle, so you cannot pay for Jira monthly and for Xray yearly.
In practice this means:
- A company with 200 Jira users and 8 testers pays Xray for 200 users.
- When the company hires 20 more developers, product managers or support agents who use Jira, the Xray bill grows too, even if none of them ever opens a test case.
- When a site grows from 10 to 11 users, the flat $10/month rate ends and all 11 users are billed: 11 × $7.28 = $80.08/month.
You cannot license Xray for a subset of your Jira users. If your QA team is small compared with the rest of the company, most of the Xray bill pays for people who never test.
Xray Cloud Price Table (October 2026)
| Jira users | Xray Standard, annual | Xray Standard, monthly | Xray Enterprise, annual | Xray Enterprise, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | $100 | $10 | $275 | $27.50 |
| 15 | $1,092 | $109.20 | $1,980 | $198 |
| 25 | $1,820 | $182 | $3,300 | $330 |
| 50 | $3,640 | $364 | $6,600 | $660 |
| 100 | $7,280 | $728 | $13,200 | $1,320 |
| 200 | $10,980 | $1,098 | $19,310 | $1,931 |
| 500 | $18,130 | $1,813 | $31,590 | $3,159 |
| 1,000 | $28,730 | $2,873 | $50,040 | $5,004 |
List prices from the Atlassian Marketplace for Xray Test Management for Jira and Xray Enterprise, captured October 2026. Annual billing equals ten monthly payments. Taxes and partner discounts are not included.
Above 10 users, monthly pricing is progressive. For Xray Standard, users 1 to 100 cost $7.28 each, users 101 to 250 cost $3.70 each, and users 251 to 1,000 cost $2.12 each. For example, a 200-user site pays 100 × $7.28 + 100 × $3.70 = $1,098 per month. Xray Enterprise follows the same pattern at $13.20, $6.11 and $3.69 per user.
The per-user rate falls as the site grows, but the total keeps rising with every Jira user you add.
Xray Data Center Pricing and the End of Data Center

| 500 | $18,515 |
| 1,000 | $29,645 |

These prices matter only to teams that already run Jira Data Center. Atlassian is ending Data Center for most of its products, including Jira:
- Since March 30, 2026, new customers can no longer buy Data Center subscriptions or new Data Center Marketplace apps.
- March 30, 2028 is the last day existing customers can buy new subscriptions, expansions and Data Center Marketplace apps.
- On March 28, 2029, Data Center subscriptions and their Marketplace apps expire and become read-only. Renewals before then are prorated to that date.

Worked Examples
The examples below use Xray Standard list prices and QA Sphere list prices. QA Sphere charges per user per month, and Viewer seats are free on paid plans, so only people who write or run tests need a paid seat. Your team keeps using Jira in both cases; QA Sphere connects to it through the Jira integration.
1. Startup: 10 Jira users, 2 testers
- Xray Standard: $10/month, $100/year.
- QA Sphere Free: $0, because the Free plan covers up to 3 users.
2. Growing company: 50 Jira users, 5 testers
- Xray Standard: $364/month, $3,640/year.
- QA Sphere Standard: 5 × $12 = $60/month, $720/year. The other 45 people can follow results on free Viewer seats.
3. Mid-size company: 200 Jira users, 8 testers
- Xray Standard: $1,098/month, $10,980/year.
- QA Sphere Standard: 8 × $12 = $96/month, $1,152/year.
- QA Sphere Business, with SSO and SCIM: 8 × $24 = $192/month, $2,304/year.
4. Larger team on the top tier: 100 Jira users, 10 testers
- Xray Enterprise: $1,320/month, $13,200/year.
- QA Sphere Business: 10 × $24 = $240/month, $2,880/year.
The gap grows with the ratio of Jira users to testers. If almost everyone on your Jira site tests, per-site and per-tester pricing come closer. If testers are a small part of the company, per-tester pricing costs much less.

FAQ
How much does Xray for Jira cost?
Xray Standard costs $10/month for Jira sites with up to 10 users. Above 10 users, every Jira user is billed, from $7.28 per user per month for the first 100 users. A 100-user site pays $7,280/year and a 200-user site pays $10,980/year (list prices, October 2026).
Is Xray free for up to 10 users?
No. Xray charges a flat $10/month (or $100/year) for sites with up to 10 users. Every edition has a 30-day free trial.
Do I pay Xray for Jira users who never test?
Yes. Atlassian bills Jira Cloud apps based on the number of users on the Jira site, so Xray is licensed for every Jira user, including developers, product managers and other people who never open a test case. You cannot buy Xray for a subset of users.
What is the difference between Xray Standard, Advanced and Enterprise?
Standard is the default edition of Xray Test Management for Jira. Advanced is a higher edition of the same app with AI test script generation, more storage, a higher API limit and a larger shared steps library. Xray Enterprise is a separate app that adds Test Case Designer, test case versioning, dynamic test plans and higher limits; moving to it needs a new license through Xray's sales team.
Is Xray still available for Jira Data Center?
Only for existing Data Center customers. Since March 30, 2026, new customers cannot buy Data Center subscriptions or new Data Center apps. Existing customers can buy until March 30, 2028, and Data Center subscriptions and apps become read-only on March 28, 2029.
Does Xray offer an annual discount?
Yes. On the Atlassian Marketplace, an annual Xray subscription costs the same as ten monthly payments, so you get roughly two months free. Your Xray billing cycle must match your Jira billing cycle.
How does Xray pricing compare with QA Sphere?
QA Sphere charges only for the people who write or run tests: Standard is $12 and Business is $24 per user per month, Viewer seats are free on paid plans, and the Free plan covers up to 3 users. Xray charges for every user on your Jira site. For a team with 8 testers on a 200-user Jira site, that is $1,152/year on QA Sphere Standard against $10,980/year on Xray Standard.
